Dr. Kathleen Ramsay | Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation
Dr. Kathleen Ramsay
Member at Large

One of the founding members, Dr. Kathleen Ramsay has devoted over 30 years to animal care. After receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, Dr. Ramsay opened her own veterinary clinic in Espanola, NM.

In 1986, Dr. Ramsay founded the New Mexico Wildlife Center (also located in Espanola, NM). Although its mission was originally to care for birds, the mission and facility expanded. In the early 2000s, Dr. Ramsay was appointed to the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine, which she continued until 2013. AT this point in her career, Dr. Ramsay left New Mexico Wildlife Center to care for her ailing husband, but she still continues to provide rehabilitation to bears and raptors.

In 2012, Dr. Ramsay co-founded Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation with four other members. Unlike New Mexico Wildlife Center, Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation (LEWF.org) was formed to help wildlife rehabbers across greater New Mexico. Through donations and grants, LEWF helps provide services, materials, and supplies to those individuals or organizations who might not have the ability to seek these resources on their own. Dr. Ramsay is a wonderful example of someone who gives without question or second thought, and New Mexico’s wildlife continues to benefit from her hard work.

Awarded New Mexico True Hero in 2015.
